Ingredients

2 slices Abbott’s Bakery® Country Grain (toasted)
50g ground beef mince
1 slice cheddar cheese
2 cos lettuce leaves
1 fried egg
1 tsps dried basil
Pinch of chili flakes
Salt flakes and cracked pepper

Burger sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 tsps hot english mustard
2 tsps worcestershire sauce
1 tsps runny honey

Quick pickled onions
½ red onion, thinly sliced
2 tsps caster sugar
2 tbs white wine vinegar
Pinch of salt

Method

  1. To make the quick pickled onions, place all ingredients into a glass bowl and sit for 20 minutes.
  2. Place beef into a bowl, sprinkle with chili flakes, dried basil and season with salt and cracked pepper. Shape ground beef mince into 1cm thick round patty.
  3. Preheat a grill pan over high heat, cook patty for 4 minutes on each side or until charred. Place cheese over beef burger and cook for a further minute or until cheese is melted. Wipe frypan with paper towel.
  4. Toast the bread slices in the fry pan for 2 minutes on each side until lightly toasted.
  5. To assemble the burger, spread half of the toasted slices with burger sauce, top with lettuce leaves, burger patty, pickled onions, and fried egg. Top with remaining bread slices.
  6. Slice in half and enjoy!
